Terms of use
What Aroundstay is, how bookings work, who is responsible for what, and the fair use of the site.
Who we are
Aroundstay (www.aroundstay.com) and the Hudson app are run by Trance Holding Company Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17251309. Our registered office is Blackpool Enterprise Centre, 291–305 Lytham Road, Blackpool FY4 1EW. We are the data controller for the personal data described on this site. You can reach us at [email protected].
What Aroundstay is
Aroundstay describes hotels by what is around them: the beaches, restaurants, sights, days out and everyday essentials within reach, with typical road times from each hotel. The descriptions are built from public sources, chiefly OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia and the hotels' and venues' own websites, and are refreshed regularly. Aroundstay is independent of the hotels and venues listed unless a page says otherwise.
Road times are typical driving times without traffic; allow longer at busy times. Opening hours, prices and facilities change, so check with the venue before you rely on them. We do our best to keep pages accurate, but we cannot promise that every detail is right at the moment you read it.
Bookings made from our pages
When you book a hotel room from our pages, two companies are involved and it helps to know which does what.
Who you are contracting with. Your contract for the stay is with the hotel, made through Nuitée Travel Limited, trading as LiteAPI, a hotel booking provider incorporated in Ireland. Nuitée sells the room under its terms and the hotel's terms, which are shown to you before you pay. Aroundstay is the website through which you find and choose the room. We are not the hotel and we are not the seller of the room.
Who takes your payment. Nuitée is the merchant of record. Your card is charged by Nuitée through its payment provider, Stripe, and the charge on your statement is Nuitée's. Your card details are entered into a secure payment form supplied by Stripe and never pass through Aroundstay. Aroundstay does not hold your money at any point.
Refunds, chargebacks and disputes. Refunds under the cancellation terms you accepted are made by Nuitée to the card you paid with, normally within five to ten working days of the cancellation. Any dispute about the charge, and any chargeback with your card issuer, is handled by Nuitée as the merchant. We will give you and Nuitée the booking record and correspondence needed to resolve it.
What Aroundstay is responsible for. We are responsible for showing you the room, price, dates and cancellation terms accurately at the moment you confirm, and for the confirmation we send you matching what was booked. If we get one of those wrong, tell us at [email protected] and we will put it right with Nuitée and the hotel. Our total liability arising from a booking is limited to the amount paid for that booking.
What the hotel is responsible for. The hotel is responsible for the room and the stay itself: the premises, staff, facilities, service and anything that happens on site. Problems during your stay should be raised with the hotel first, and then with Nuitée under its terms if they are not resolved.
Holding a room and price changes. When you press Book, the room is held for a short time while you pay. If the price or the cancellation terms change between you choosing the room and the hold being placed, we show you the new price or terms and ask you to confirm again before any payment is taken. The price you pay is the one shown at the moment you pay. Taxes or fees payable at the hotel are shown where the provider tells us about them.
Cancelling. Where the rate allows free cancellation, you can cancel from your booking page up to the time shown, and Nuitée refunds you. Where the rate is non-refundable, no refund is due, though we will ask the hotel on your behalf if you write to us.
Our commission. The price you see includes a commission that Nuitée pays to Aroundstay. It is not added on top of the price and there is no booking fee.
Other bookings. Tours, tickets, activities and car hire, where offered, are sold by the company named on the page under its terms. Each booking is a separate purchase. Aroundstay does not sell package holidays and does not combine bookings into one. Your My bookings page is your own record of what you have booked; it is not itself a booking, and it does not make Aroundstay the organiser of your travel.
Hotels without bookings on our pages can be contacted through their own website, linked from the page. Any arrangement you make with them is between you and the hotel.
Events on our pages
Some of our pages show an event, such as a concert, a match or a festival, with hotels around its venue. We read the event's name, date and venue from the organiser's own public listing and check that listing again before the page is shown. We do not sell tickets and we have no arrangement with organisers.
Check the event before you book. Organisers move, cancel and relocate events and do not tell us. Before you book a hotel for an event, confirm the date and the venue with the organiser through the listing linked on our page, or by calling them. When you book from an event page we ask you to confirm that you have done this before you pay.
Your hotel booking is not tied to the event. A room booked from an event page is an ordinary hotel booking for the nights you chose, made with the hotel through Nuitée on the terms above. It stands whether or not the event goes ahead, and whether or not it is on the date or at the place shown. If an event changes or is cancelled, the hotel's cancellation terms shown to you before payment are what apply. We are not responsible for a booking made for an event that has moved, changed date or been cancelled, and our liability to you is limited as set out under "Our responsibility to you".
Organisers' share. An organiser who confirms an event through the link we send, or who edits its page through the organiser area, receives 30% of the commission Aroundstay actually receives from Nuitée on hotel stays booked through that organiser's pages. A stay counts once the guest has checked out and Nuitée has paid the commission; cancelled or refunded stays count for nothing. The share is calculated in the currency the organiser chooses, at the exchange rate we use across the site on the day of the statement, and paid by bank transfer monthly when the balance is at least the equivalent of £25. Smaller balances carry over. The organiser gives us accurate bank details and is responsible for any tax due on what they receive. We may withhold or reclaim a share where a booking was made to earn the share rather than to stay, or where an event was confirmed that was not the organiser's to confirm.
If you run an event that appears here and something is wrong, email [email protected] and we will correct or remove the page.
Introducers
An introducer is a person or business that introduces guests to Aroundstay with a personal code or link. When a guest signs in through an introducer's code, that introducer is attached to the guest's account once and for good; a later code from anyone else does not move it.
What an introducer earns. 30% of the commission Aroundstay actually receives on hotel stays booked by the guests that introducer signed up, for as long as the guest's account exists. Bonus: if a guest an introducer signed up becomes an introducer too, the first introducer also receives a bonus of 5% of what that second introducer earns, for the second introducer's first 12 months. The bonus is paid from Aroundstay's share, never from the second introducer's; nothing further down the line. A stay counts once the guest has checked out and our booking partner has paid the commission; cancelled or refunded stays count for nothing. Introducers earn nothing per download, per sign-up or per visit. The share is calculated in the currency the introducer chooses at our site rate on the day of the statement, and paid by bank transfer monthly to an account in the introducer's own name when the balance is at least the equivalent of £25; smaller balances carry over. We ask for bank details only once a balance is payable; a share not claimed within 24 months of the stay, because no payout details were given, lapses.
When a guest becomes an introducer too. If a guest an introducer signed up becomes an introducer as well, the first introducer also receives 5% of the commission Aroundstay actually receives on stays booked by the guests the second introducer signs up, for 12 months from the day the second introducer joined. It is paid from Aroundstay's share, never from the second introducer's, on the same terms as above. There is one level only: nothing is paid on anyone further along, and nothing is paid for a sign-up on its own.
What an introducer is. An independent business working with us. Introducers are not employees, agents, partners or representatives of Aroundstay, and have no authority to bind Aroundstay or to make any commitment or promise on its behalf. Introducers may not describe themselves as Aroundstay, or pay or offer anything to a guest for signing up. Introducers are responsible for their own tax on what they receive; we give a statement of every payment.
What an introducer sees. Counts and money only: how many guests signed up, how many stays, what is earned and paid. Never who a guest is, where they are going or when. We may withhold or reclaim a share where sign-ups or bookings were made to earn the share rather than to travel, and may end an introducer's participation for misuse.
Hudson, the butler
Hudson shortlists hotels from what you tell him and from our own data about each hotel and its surroundings. He is a helpful assistant, not an adviser: his suggestions are a starting point, and the decision, and checking anything that matters to you, are yours. He never invents facts about a hotel, but the facts he uses are only as good as the public sources behind them.
Your account
Signing in is by a link sent to your email address. Keep that email account secure; anyone with access to it can sign in as you. You can delete your preferences, your conversations and your saved trips on your profile page at any time. We may close accounts used to abuse the site or other guests.
Using the site fairly
You may use Aroundstay to plan and book your own travel and that of people travelling with you. You may not copy the site's content in bulk, scrape it, republish it, use it to build another database or service, or interfere with how it runs. Hotel and venue photographs and descriptions belong to their owners or to the licences shown; map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors; background text draws on Wikipedia under its licence.
Hotels and venues
If you own or run a hotel or venue that appears on Aroundstay and something is wrong, or you would rather not be listed, email [email protected] and we will put it right or remove the page.
Our responsibility to you
We provide the site with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of hotels, venues or booking providers, for their content, or for loss that arises from a booking you make with them. For a booking made from our pages, our total liability is limited to the amount paid for that booking, except where the law does not allow us to limit it. We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you used the site, or for business losses. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
Changes and the law that applies
We may update the site and these terms; the date at the top tells you when. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the European Union you may also bring a claim in your own courts.
